Jeff Beck, uma das maiores lendas da guitarra, morreu aos 78 anos, nesta terça (10).
O músico contraiu “de forma repentina”, segundo um representante da família, que pediu, “privacidade a família, nesse momento de perda e extrema dor.”
Conhecido pela versatilidade, Jeff passeou entre diversos estilos, como o rock, jazz e blues, e se tornou um dos nomes mais importantes e influentes da guitarra. Em sua carreira, ganhou 8 Grammys, e foi introduzido duas vezes no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, uma pelo The Yardbirds onde substituiu Eric Clapton, e outra, pela sua carreira solo. Já esteve entre os 100 Maiores Guitarristas de Todos os Tempos, pela revista Rolling Stones.
Ozzy Osbourne, que fez parceria com Beck no seu disco do ano passado, “Patient Number 9“, foi um dos primeiros a se pronunciar sobre a morte do guitarrista: “Não consigo expressar o quanto estou triste ao saber da morte de Jeff Beck. Que perda terrível para sua família, amigos e seus muitos fãs. Foi uma honra ter conhecido Jeff e uma honra incrível tê-lo tocado em meu álbum mais recente, ‘Patient Number 9′ . Vida longa a Jeff Beck .“
Um dos seus últimos registro além da parceria com Ozzy, foi o disco em colaboração com Johnny Depp, “18”, em que se consistia covers e algumas composições dos dois. Algumas apresentações foram feitas em conjunto.
Outros músicos como, Mick Jagger, Ace Frehley, Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, William DuVall, Paul Stanely, entre outros, prestaram suas homenagens a Jeff Beck.
